Accounting Manager
Job Summary
Finch & Daisy Consulting is searching an Accounting Manager to join our team. We are a rapidly growing firm based in Minneapolis that focuses on accounting, project management, process improvement, and team development. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Directly supervises, trains and develops a team of accounting professionals. Ensures work procedures are adhered to and work is done consistently and according to established protocols.

Reviews monthly, quarterly and annual financial packages of staff to ensure complete, accurate and timely delivery to clients. Reviews journal entries , management fees, distributions, etc. for accuracy and completeness.

Reviews or assists in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and year-end recovery calculations.

Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures requests are handled timely, accurately and with a focus on customer service.

Participates in internal and external audits, as needed, by preparing and reviewing schedules and coordinating supporting documents.

Verifies and ensures mortgage, real estate tax, sales tax and other critical payments are made timely and that internal databases are updated and maintained accordingly.

Identifies and communicates scope of service changes to management. Suggests consulting opportunities when warranted.

Ensures compliance with financial aspects of management agreements.

Reviews and/or calculates capital contributions and owner distributions.

Takes a lead role in completing property transitions including acquisitions/dispositions. Completes or approves property set up, opening/closing, and other proration calculations.

Actively participates in training new and existing staff members to develop skillset of team.

Studies work procedures and makes recommendations for improvements to improve efficiencies in processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides direct supervision to assigned team of accounting professionals. Participates in and makes recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, and disciplinary action. Completes performance reviews and establishes performance goals for direct reports. Coaches and mentors team and provides developmental opportunities to build upon skill sets. Leads by example and models appropriate behavior and professionalism.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Accounting, Finance or related field from a four-year college or university with a minimum of six years prior accounting, finance or related experience including work in a supervisory capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prior experience in real estate accounting and real estate accounting software packages (i.e., Yardi, MRI, etc.) highly preferred.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational, analysis and analytical abilities.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to sensitive questions and issues from groups and clients articulately and accurately.
Financial Knowledge

Requires advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles.

Ability to calculate figures such as percentages, discounts, interest, and commissions.

Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to conduct independent financial analysis.
Other Skills/Abilities

Advanced knowledge of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite Products), including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required.

Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and high-volume environment. Must remain apprised of team workload to ensure deadlines and deliverables are not missed.

Ability to identify problems and take corrective action to resolve in varying and sometimes ambiguous circumstances and with limited information. Ability to assess a situation, complete necessary research and analysis, and provide recommendations for resolution to management or to direct reports.

Advanced follow-through and customer resolution skills.
