Building Relationships In-Person

Last month, we shared some of the ways that our team is able to connect and build relationships in the virtual world. This month, we are focusing on some of our in-person team building events. Half of the F&D team is located in and around the Minneapolis Metropolitan and outlying areas, and the other half is located across the United States and the Philippines. Our Culture Committee, in addition to planning virtual events, also plans in person gatherings whenever possible. We were fortunate in September 2022 to bring most of our team to Minnesota to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Finch & Daisy, and that was an incredible opportunity to meet in person so many faces that we knew only from little Zoom boxes. This year, we have worked to plan smaller, location specific gatherings - two of which occurred within the past couple of months.

Great MN Get Together

No, we didn’t attend the Minnesota State Fair (often referred to as the Great MN Get Together), but at the end of August, many of our Minnesota team, and team members from Wisconsin and Texas were able to gather for a Summer Picnic at our Joy’s home. We spent the afternoon enjoying each other’s company, holding a bean bag tournament, and participating in a couple culinary competitions. It was a wonderful afternoon. In the coming months, we’ll be sharing some of the recipes from our culinary competitions here. We hope you enjoy them!

Lone Star Get Together

Recently, our Texas team came together from various locations to celebrate all things Lone Star. This was a great opportunity for the Texas folks (plus a Wisconsin employee) to build camaraderie, which is so important in fostering teamwork, trust and friendships. They all had a great time spending the day at the Fair and enjoyed the classic fair fare and new deep-fried creations. Additionally, several members of the Texas team were able to attend The Cowboys Club, which is an exclusive club that overlooks the Cowboy’s training field. The Texas team said this was a fun way to interact and see everyone in person and hope they can do something again in the future!

Get to Know F&D This month we interviewed one of our Accounting Specialists, Clarissa Reyes. Check out her responses to get to know Clarissa a little better!

  1. How Long Have You Been With F&D: 2 years and 7 months (officially). But been working with Joy since 2018!

  2. Favorite Movie: Like Stars on Earth – this is a Bollywood movie about a dyslexic child. I’ve watched this movie more than 10 times but I still bawl like a child every time!

  3. Favorite Book: The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. It talks about The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success. Number 1 being the Law of Value which says: “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.”

  4. Favorite Band / Artist: Bruno Mars – he’s electric!

  5. If you could have any job in the world, what would you do? Reading teacher to young kids! I always tell my kids that if they want to be well-versed on a certain topic/subject, they should try their best to read at least 5 books about it!

  6. Where is the most breathtaking place you’ve ever travelled? I’ve never been out of the country yet but there are a lot of beautiful islands in the Philippines that I’ve yet to visit! Boracay Island and Coron Island are on top of the list!

  7. Fun Fact About You: Me and my sisters were all born on the 11th day of different months (All three via natural birth!)

Pictured is Clarissa (center, wearing a red t-shirt) with her husband, kids, sisters, brother-in-law, nephews, and niece. Clarissa says they always like to do things as a family, and this picture was taken during one of their family outdoor trips. Thank you for sharing, Clarissa! Check out this space next month for our next Get to Know F&D spotlight!
